A Little Visit

I was really excited to have a free weekend to go visit the kids.  We spent a couple nights in Springfield, enjoying good food, the hot tub, and time with the girls.  We tried a new coffee shop that we both really liked in the heart of downtown and discovered a little antique shop where the shop owner often travels to England for some of his items.  He and John had a good talk about their travels.  Ari and Anthony joined us on a walk around downtown.  Mistake…wearing slightly heeled boots!  My feet hurt so bad the next day.  Soaking in the hot tub that night was heavenly.  Sunday we went to a new Italian restaurant, Nonnie’s, before heading home.

Unfortunately, I left home without a SD card…oops.  So resorted to a couple pics on my phone. There was a touch of Spring in the air and it felt good just to be outside.

The Mudhouse

During our trip to Springfield, we found the cutest little coffee shop, Mudhouse.  And, we love good coffeehouses and awesome Mochas.  It’s located in the heart of historic downtown Springfield.  They roast their own beans in another building downtown.  It was a nice, relaxing stop to begin our hectic day of visiting with the girls and traveling.  You’ll have to excuse my not-so-awesome camera phone pics!

The City of Springfield, Missouri

A few weeks ago, we were in Springfield for Ari’s birthday and parent’s weekend at Missouri State.  John and I had some time to kill while waiting for the kids, so we wandered the streets of downtown Springfield.  I was surprised at how much I loved this little town.  It has lots of fun places to eat and shop.  Care has been taken in refurbishing some of the old historic buildings.  So, here’s a little photo tour of what we discovered.

She’s "21"

When your children hit certain milestones, one often wonders where the time disappeared to.  With Ari’s 21st birthday, there was no exception.  I’m amazed how fast we have come to this time in our lives and sometimes wish I could push a magic button and stop time.  She’s a special young lady, with a heart for God, and compassion for people.  We spent the weekend visiting with her and her husband, Anthony, and Beki.  The weekend really didn’t go as planned, life rarely goes as planned!  But, regardless, we had a nice dinner downtown at the Springfield Brewing Co. Restaurant to celebrate.

Do you ever feel like you could just be swallowed up in sadness?
I miss my girls so much, things just aren’t the same without them around.    You know what’s the hardest,  it’s missing out on the everyday things…
hearing their daily stories, talking and laughing together, just knowing if they are ok or not.

Sometimes I feel like I’m just sitting in a dark room waiting for little glimpses of light.  Waiting for a note or call that says…

“Hey, you’re not forgotten.”
